Course Description

Pilates for rehabilitation has been proving to be successful in decreasing pain and disability. By moving, the body utilizes blood flow for healing, and, with proper alignment takes pressure off joints and organs. Even though we can focus on specialized body parts, the Pilates method recruits the whole body to work as one unit, to create balance. Pilates strengthens muscles, supports the spine and all other joints, and works the muscles in a lengthened state to work against internal and external forces. This course will teach fundamentals of Pilates, with basic exercises on the Reformer, Mat, Magic Circle, and Wall exercises and modifications for spinal, shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle conditions. conditions.
